About This Course
Yokohama's Minatomirai district offers one of the most beautiful waterfront running environments in the greater Tokyo region. The 8 km course follows the harbour promenade from Minatomirai's gleaming commercial district east to Yamashita Park, passing through a series of distinct urban waterfront zones. The first section runs past the Yokohama Cosmoworld Ferris wheel and the iconic Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (Akarenga), a restored Meiji-era port facility now housing shops and cafes. The route continues past Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal — an architecturally striking pier that is worth a short detour — before reaching the tree-lined Yamashita Park on Yokohama Bay. The park marks the natural turnaround point for an 8 km one-way run (return by train or run back for 16 km). The entire route is flat, paved, and accessible without any crossing of major traffic roads. Yokohama's sea breeze makes it comfortable even in summer, and the harbour lights create a memorable night-running experience.
