About This Course
Miura is where the Tokyo commuter belt finally runs out. The peninsula's southern tip is farmland and fishing villages — fields of cabbage and daikon on the headlands, small harbours full of working boats, and a coastline of low cliffs and rocky coves facing the open Pacific. It looks and feels nothing like anywhere else within easy reach of Tokyo, and on a weekday morning you may not pass another runner at all. The running is on quiet coastal roads rather than dedicated paths, rolling rather than flat, with regular short climbs over the headlands between coves. That gives the route more character and more effort than the flat seafront promenades further north around Zushi and Enoshima. The standard run heads from Misakiguchi toward Misaki port and out along the coast, with the option of continuing around toward Jogashima island at the very tip, connected by bridge. Misaki is one of Japan's most famous tuna ports, and eating maguro at the harbour after a run here is the entire point of coming — this is the best food payoff of any course on this site. The honest caveats matter more here than elsewhere. Facilities are sparse: there are no water fountains along the coast and convenience stores are far apart, so carry water and cash. The roads are shared with vehicles, and while traffic is light, there are sections without pavement where you need to run alert and face oncoming traffic. And the journey is long — about 90 minutes each way from central Tokyo — so this works as a half-day trip rather than a quick morning run. Treat it as an excursion and it is one of the most rewarding runs in Kanagawa.

Limited coin lockers at Misakiguchi Station, the last stop on the Keikyu line into the Miura Peninsula. Facilities on the peninsula itself are sparse — carry water and use the toilets at the station or at Misaki fishing port before heading out along the coast.
