About This Course
Yoyogi Park is one of Tokyo's most beloved green spaces and a favourite running destination for locals and visitors alike. Unlike the paved Imperial Palace route, Yoyogi's paths are compacted gravel and earth, offering a softer surface that is easier on the knees and ankles. The inner loop around the central fountain area measures approximately 1.7 km, while the outer paths through the wooded sections allow for longer variations of 3 to 6 km. The park is open from sunrise to sunset with no entry fee. Toilet facilities and water taps are located throughout. On Sunday mornings the park fills with performers and picnickers, adding a festive backdrop to your run. The adjacent Meiji Shrine grounds can be incorporated into a longer route for a uniquely Japanese running experience through forested shrine paths.
